So Not the Outcome I Wanted

Well, Chelsea won their first UEFA Champions League today, beating Bayern Munich in penalties. I do not like when a game goes to penalties. I would rather have things decided before it comes to penalties. Needless to say I did not want Chelsea to win. I am not a hardcore Bayern Munich but I am very much not a fan of Chelsea, so it was an easy choice to make as to which team I was going to root for. The result was so not what I was hoping to have happen which was a major bummer. Still, the game was a fun watch so there is that.

Oh, and wtf was up with Salomon Kalou’s hair? I kept thinking a facehugger from the Aliens movies was attacking the back of his head. Drogba seemed absolutely fascinated by it, lol.

Newcastle Victorious – Papiss Cisse Stellar Performance

Mini Post Alert!

Papiss Cisse scored twice against Chelsea, sealing Newcastle’s victory 2-0 and putting them that much closer to a spot in the Champions League. Congrats Papiss! C’mon Newcastle I want a spot in the top four!

I Will Be Able To Watch The Champions League Final Yay

Well the results are in: Bayern Munich and Chelsea will be duking it out in the Champions League Final 2012. I was very sad and disappointed that Barcelona did not make it to the final. However I was *slightly* mollified that Real Madrid also did not make it into the final either. If it had been a Chelsea v. Real Madrid game I probably would have had to forgo watching the final altogether. There are no lesser of two evils in that particular match-up, no way I could make myself cheer for either side.

I wish that the two semi-final games were not held on weekdays so I could have watched them live. It’s always a major bummer with the time zone difference to not be able to watch games but the day choice certainly didn’t help things. Apparently the Bayern Munich v. Real Madrid game went into penalties to decide who would emerge victorious. That must have caused at least a few fans (and a few players) aneurisms while they agonized over every shot. Ramos’ miss over the crossbar put the final nail in the coffin of Real Madrid’s hopes of getting into the Champions League final.
